Something That Happens a Lot in Dynamics 365 CRM That a Lot of People Overlook: Field Level Security.

Imagine a user being able to open a Record entirely, but not being able to see or edit a specific Field inside it!

🔒 Field Level Security (FLS) is the answer. It gives you very precise control over data, letting you decide who can: 👁 Read (view the Field’s value), ✏ Update (edit the Field’s value), 📝 Create (enter the Field’s value while creating the Record).

Why do we use Field Level Security? 📌 To protect sensitive data such as: Salary, National ID, Bank Account, Confidential Notes. 📌 To allow only a specific group access to certain data. 📌 To raise the security level inside CRM without affecting access rights to the Record itself.

  • ⚙ How does it work? Enable Field Security on the Field, create a Field Security Profile, add Users or Teams to the Profile, set Read / Update / Create permissions for each Field.
  • 📌 Bottom line: Field Level Security provides an extra layer of protection for sensitive data at a very precise Field level inside Dynamics 365 CRM.
